Brief

A hologram projection of a randomly selected plant will be the main display piece encased in a box like chamber. Off to the side of the piece is a display that would contain more information than what is shown in the mock up. The display would contain the temperature read from a sensor, a visual of how much light is being read through a photo-resistor, a timer for how long the current plant has lived, the longest recorded plant life, and a final counter of how many plants have died in the simulation.

Interaction

The main idea was to gamify sustaining a virtual plant’s life by interacting through a photo-resistor and a light sensor. Later on in its display life it would be interesting to see if users would be more or less engaged and active with the piece based on the two variables of longest plant life time and total plant deaths. The hope for this piece would to possibly provoke people to think more about their engagement with a sub-message of being more green.
