Concept: “altruistic vr”

Idea 1 (non-entertainment)

The non-entertainment title idea is a virtual reality tour to and of a slaughter house through a positioned viewpoint being crowded in with the animals. The experience would be introduced and narrated by a cheery/energetic voice similar to that of the Krabby Patty training episode from Sponge Bob or Cave Johnson from Portal 2, advocating for the best business efficiency and package labels such as grass fed while also passing off water usage, nutrition value compared to imitation meat, and green house gas information as ‘not that important’. This overall would create a very dissonant and uncomfortable tone with the very harsh visuals. Seeing the videos alone are very hard to watch (in my opinion) and being put into that environment first person is probably terrifying.

The opening scene would take place in a colorful fast food restaurant with the excitement of a grass fed beef burger and the welcoming to the behind the scenes. The false happy expectations change as you move along with cows from the range to the feedlot on the cluster phobic trucks through harsh weather with no food or water. Once arrived they are met to industry standard being over fed with grains and corn close to the point of the liver exploding from an unsuited bovine diet.

As the participant becomes closer to being primed for slaughter like the other cows they can see the process of bolting, hoisting, slitting, skinning, and discarding the narrator wraps up the narration right before their turn to send them their farewells out of the restaurant.

The mission isn’t necessarily telling participants to go vegetarian/vegan (could be a byproduct) but rather show the harsh and unethical reality of behind the scenes even with all of the “happy” labels of grass fed, free range, etc.

Idea 2 (entertainment)

And now for something completely different… The other idea would be a Lego game with the concept of navigation and and fulfilling needs. The camera perspective would have the player above the playable space as a strategic view. The players will have to help mini-figure characters navigate through a space to get to a goal location whether it be a vehicle, building, or other characters. Random bricks can be gathered to construct items from a menu to fulfill need by creating food or building various elements to help safely cross or prevent hazards.
